Cultural astronomy and archaeoastronomy
Prof. Irakli Simonia studies the ancient Georgian archaeoastronomical artifacts including small metallic artifacts and the ruins of stone constructions of Bronze Age and antiquity. He proposed a new conception of bronze cosmogramms. He studies the astronomical manuscripts. In particular, he studied the manuscripts “Star Book” and “Elementary Cosmography”. Described the main tendencies of the development of the view of astronomy in ancient Georgia. Now he studies stone artifacts and other samples of astronomical heritage.
